About Captain:

Few people know the Crystal Coast waterfront as well as Captain Charles Webb. Whether he's guiding charter clients, setting commercial nets before sunrise, or cleaning the day's catch at the Morehead City waterfront, Charles has built his life around the water.

A Carteret County native, Charles learned to fish alongside his grandfather at just five years old. Those early mornings shrimping, setting mullet nets, and flounder gigging sparked a passion that eventually became a career. Today he proudly owns and operates Coastal Carolina Charters, offering visitors unforgettable fishing experiences while continuing the traditions that have supported local fishing families for generations.

Charles specializes in nearshore and inshore charters targeting Spanish mackerel, bluefish, bonito, king mackerel, false albacore, mahi, grouper, amberjack, and other seasonal species. His trips are designed for anglers of all experience levels, with an emphasis on enjoying the complete Crystal Coast experience—not simply catching fish.

In addition to charter fishing, Charles is an active commercial fisherman, harvesting fresh local seafood using traditional techniques that help supply area seafood markets and restaurants. His deep understanding of local waters, changing seasons, and fish migrations makes him one of the most respected voices on the waterfront.

For nearly a decade, Charles has also worked at the Morehead City fish cleaning station, where he has become a familiar face to visiting anglers and local captains alike. His daily interactions with charter captains, commercial fishermen, and tournament crews give him a unique perspective on what's happening throughout the Crystal Coast fishery.

As Crystal Coast Compass's Weekly Fishing Report contributor, Captain Charles Webb provides timely fishing conditions, seasonal patterns, species updates, and local insight to help anglers make the most of every trip.

Charles believes the Crystal Coast is one of the greatest fisheries on the East Coast. He is passionate about protecting its commercial fishing heritage, supporting local seafood, and preserving opportunities for future generations to enjoy life on the water.
